The Unimog (from the German "UNIversal-MOtor-Gerät", that is "universal motor vehicle") is a range of off-road trucks from Daimler-Benz, produced since the 1950s and originally used as tractors for turnip crops. The Unimogs have a considerable height from the ground (more than 40 cm), made possible by the use of portal axles, which allow the axles and the transmission to be higher than the center of the wheel. They are also equipped with a flexible frame that allows the wheels wide vertical movements which, together with the coil spring suspensions, allow the Unimog to comfortably tackle any type of terrain, even the roughest, with obstacles of over a meter and slopes impossible for the others.
