Description
ALFA ROMEO RENAULT DAUPHINE R 1090 with only 34,000 km.
In 1958 Renault and Alfa Romeo entered into an agreement to produce the Dauphine at the Portello plant under the Alfa Romeo badge.
The car offered is one of the 6,500 cars produced in 1959, specifically on 17 October 1959, as confirmed by the Alfa Romeo Documentation Centre production records. It was sold on 24 October, supplied with original BS plates and covered by warranty from 26 October 1959. The car was purchased by a 37-year-old lady who used it only lightly in town and always kept it garaged.
Supplied with purchase contract and invoice, warranty and service booklet, brochure, plates and registration document updated in 1971 due to a change of residence. In the second half of the 1970s it was taken in part exchange by our former Renault dealership against a new R5. It remained at the dealership until 2016, when we were asked to sell it to an enthusiast from Brescia, a service-station owner, who obtained the ASI certificate and CRS. After selling the service station and no longer having storage space, he offered it back to us.
We requested the Alfa Romeo Certificate of Origin, which confirmed that the car is matching numbers and matching colour. We also carried out a major service, with documentation, to bring it to excellent running order.
Today we can certify a car that cruises easily at 90 km/h, with a stable and straight steering wheel, correct braking, a tight gearbox and all instruments and services working. As the period advertising said: "You drive it with one finger, you control it with one foot." A charming and honest car that not only transports you easily, but also takes you back to the fabulous 1960s through a documented piece of history that is not easy to find. A car that, like all special things, must be appreciated; if it appeals to you, it can give great satisfaction to the enthusiast who cares about detail.
