The Unimog (from the German "UNIversal-MOtor-Gerät", ie "universal motor vehicle") is a range of Daimler-Benz out-of-road trucks, produced since the 1950s and originally used as tractors for the cultivation of turnips. The Unimog have a considerable height from the ground (more than 40 cm), made possible by the use of portal axles, which allow the axles and the transmission to be higher than the center of the wheel. They are also equipped with a flexible frame that allows the wheels large vertical movements that, together with the coil springs, allow the Unimog to comfortably deal with any type of terrain, even the most uneven, with obstacles of more than one meter and slopes impossible for the others.
